This policy explains how MARLEY, the internal content-production assistant used by the DIY Wrap Club team, uses data from YouTube. It covers MARLEY only. Our online store has its own privacy policy.

    1. Who we are

DIY Wrap Club is run by TESBROS, INC ("we", "us"), 910 Creekside Rd, Suite D13, Chattanooga, TN 37406, United States. Questions about this policy: ji@tesbros.com.

    2. MARLEY uses YouTube API Services

MARLEY uses YouTube API Services to work with our own YouTube channel, DIY Wrap Club. When MARLEY accesses YouTube, Google's handling of that data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy, and use of YouTube is subject to the YouTube Terms of Service.

MARLEY is not a public app. Only our own team uses it, and only our own channel's Google account has signed in to it (authorized it). No other YouTube user or channel signs in to MARLEY.

    3. What MARLEY accesses

Data Where it comes from Why
Our channel's videos: titles, descriptions, tags, thumbnails, privacy status, publish dates, view/like/comment counts YouTube Data API, with our channel's authorization Keep our catalog up to date and report what works
Our channel's analytics: views, watch time, average view duration, audience retention, subscribers gained and lost, impressions and click-through rate YouTube Analytics and Reporting APIs, with our channel's authorization Learn which videos, titles and thumbnails work for our audience
Captions of our own videos YouTube Data API, with our channel's authorization Plan, script and edit new videos from what we said before
Comments viewers leave on our own videos: the commenter's public display name and the comment text YouTube Data API, with our channel's authorization Find questions viewers ask and draft answers for our team to approve
Public information about other channels and videos in our niche: titles, view counts, subscriber counts, publish dates YouTube Data API (public data) Research topics and see what performs in our niche

MARLEY also writes to our own channel: it uploads our own finished videos privately, sets their titles, descriptions, tags, thumbnails and publish times, and posts approved replies to comments on our own videos. Most of these a person on our team approves first in our private Slack workspace, and every comment reply is approved that way. The exceptions are two programs our team set up, which run on their own within limits we set; we review what they did every night and can switch either off at any time:

    • test Shorts cut from our own videos: up to 3 a day, each checked by an automated review for accuracy and context before it's uploaded and scheduled;
    • title or thumbnail tests on our own older videos: 5 a week, each measured over 28 days and put back if it didn't help.

MARLEY never deletes, hides or moderates comments, and never acts on any channel other than ours.

MARLEY does not place cookies or similar technologies on anyone's device, and does not collect information from viewers' devices or browsers.

    4. How we use it

Only to produce and improve DIY Wrap Club's own videos: reporting performance to our team, planning and scripting videos, editing, writing titles and descriptions, choosing thumbnails, scheduling, and answering viewers' questions in the comments. We don't use YouTube data for advertising, we don't build profiles of viewers, and we don't sell, rent or trade it.

    5. Who we share it with

We don't sell or share YouTube data with anyone for their own use. To run MARLEY, data passes through these services, which process it for us:

    • Anthropic (the Claude API), which MARLEY uses to read reports, transcripts and comments and to draft summaries, scripts, titles and replies. Anthropic processes it under its commercial terms for API customers.
    • Slack, our private team workspace, where MARLEY shows summaries and approval requests to our team.
    • Google / YouTube, which provides the data and receives the changes MARLEY makes to our channel.

Inside our company, only our content team (two people) and our own internal tools see MARLEY's results.

    6. Where it's stored and for how long

MARLEY's data is stored on our own computer in our office, in a database that accepts connections only from that computer. A copy of the database is saved to our own network storage in the office each night; each copy is deleted after 14 days.

    • Our own channel's videos and analytics are kept while we use MARLEY, to compare performance over time.
    • Public data about other channels and videos is refreshed daily and deleted if it hasn't been refreshed within 30 days.
    • Viewer comments (display name and text) are deleted from MARLEY within 30 days of when MARLEY read them. We keep only the comment's ID and whether we replied, so we don't answer the same comment twice. Our team's approval messages in our private Slack workspace may quote a comment; Slack keeps those under our workspace's message retention setting, for 30 days.
    • Our replies stay on YouTube like any other comment, until we or the viewer delete them there.

    7. Revoking access and deleting data

    • Our channel can revoke MARLEY's access at any time on Google's security settings page: https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions. When access is revoked, MARLEY stops reading from and writing to our channel.
    • If you've commented on one of our videos and want your comment removed from our records sooner than 30 days, email ji@tesbros.com and we'll delete it within 7 days. Deleting your comment on YouTube also removes it from what MARLEY can read.

    8. Changes

If we change how MARLEY uses YouTube data, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
