Two Tesla Cybertrucks. Two completely different visions. Less than 24 hours to get them both ready for pickup.

One truck was being transformed into an adventure-ready Cyberbeast complete with a massive Urander bed rack, CyberGlow RGB lighting, a refrigerator, Starlink preparation, seat covers, and ceramic coating. The other was receiving a dramatic gloss green wrap with matching accents and its own finishing details.

Both customers were scheduled to arrive the following afternoon—and we were nowhere close to done.

What followed was a late-night race filled with difficult installations, unexpected problems, plenty of troubleshooting, and very little sleep.

Cybertruck Build No. 1: Turning a Cyberbeast Into an Adventure Rig

The first Cybertruck was already one of our most ambitious builds before the clock started ticking.

Its exterior had previously been wrapped in a Satin Shimmer finish and equipped with a rugged protective armor package sourced through Abstract Ocean. The combination gave the Cyberbeast a lighter appearance while preserving the tough, industrial personality that makes the Cybertruck so recognizable.

However, the exterior finish was only the beginning.

The remaining build list included:

  • A Cyberglow RGB front light bar
  • A seven-piece Urander bed rack system
  • A center-console refrigerator
  • Custom seat covers
  • Starlink power and cable routing
  • PPF wrap + Ceramic coating
  • Cyberbeast badging and an American flag accent

That is an ambitious accessory list for any project. Attempting to complete it while simultaneously finishing another Cybertruck made the schedule even more challenging.

Replacing the Factory Light Bar With an RGB Upgrade

One of the first projects was replacing the existing front light bar with a Cyberglow RGB unit.

The upgraded light uses an OEM-style Tesla assembly but adds programmable RGB functionality. Instead of being limited to a standard white light, the owner can change the appearance and create different lighting effects.

Accessing the light bar required partially disassembling the front of the truck and working around the surrounding PPF. Removing nearby trim also made it easier to finish the PPF wrap properly.

This is especially important with wet-installed PPF. The film needs time to dry before its edges can be wrapped and secured. If the trim stays in place, the film may stick to the trim instead of wrapping cleanly around the body panel.

Taking the truck apart creates more work at the beginning, but it usually produces a cleaner and longer-lasting result.

The light bar itself installed successfully, although we discovered that the RGB remote needed a small battery before we could fully activate and demonstrate all of its features. That would not be the last unexpected issue of the night.

Installing a Refrigerator Inside the Cybertruck

Next came the center-console refrigerator.

The refrigerator fits into the open storage area between the front and rear seating areas. The installation looks simple once it is complete, but several interior panels and plastic covers must be removed before the unit can slide into place.

Once installed, the refrigerator connects to the Cybertruck’s rear 110-volt outlet. It provides a convenient way to keep drinks or food cold during road trips, camping trips, or long days away from home.

The manufacturer recommended allowing the refrigerator to sit for approximately four hours before turning it on. When we eventually tested it, the unit initially had no power. After troubleshooting the connection, we found the issue and got it working before delivery.

Fitting the Custom Seat Covers

The seat covers were another deceptively difficult part of the build.

These were not loose temporary covers that could simply be pulled over the seats. They were designed as a more fitted, semi-permanent solution, which required working around the seat structure, securing hidden hooks, and carefully positioning each section.

Space underneath a Cybertruck seat is limited, so attaching the lower straps and hooks required a fair amount of patience.

Safety was also a major consideration. The covers included openings around the sides of the seats for airbag deployment, and we made sure the seat belts and other safety components remained fully exposed and functional.

Once completed, the black seat covers looked much more like an integrated interior upgrade than a basic removable cover.

Why Cybertruck PPF Edges Need Extra Attention

While accessory installation continued, we also had to finish the exterior PPF details.

The Cybertruck’s large stainless-steel panels may appear simple, but the edges require careful preparation. On several panels, the film cannot simply stop on the visible face of the edge. It needs to wrap farther around and adhere to the metal behind the edge.

Wet-installed PPF also needs adequate drying time before those edges are folded. Trying to finish them too early can trap moisture or cause the film to lift later.

That is why much of the exterior film had been allowed to sit overnight before the final edge work began. Once the moisture had evaporated, we could wrap, secure, and post-heat the edges with much more confidence.

Installing the Seven-Piece Urander Bed Rack

The largest and most time-consuming portion of the entire build was the Urander rack.

The system arrived in seven large boxes and included multiple structural sections, mounting components, MOLLE-style panels, windows, locks, and an integrated light bar.

By the time we started the installation, it was already around midnight.

Before positioning the rack, every nearby PPF edge had to be fully secured. Once the structure was mounted over the bed, access to some of those areas would become extremely limited.

The installation involved removing factory brackets, accessing mounting points inside the bed, routing wiring, assembling the individual rack sections, and carefully aligning everything with the truck.

The integrated light bar also required power. On the newer Cybertruck configuration used for this project, an available wiring path made it possible to route the connection upward and into the rack.

When the light finally turned on, it was incredibly bright—and one of the first major victories of the night.

Five hours later, the rack was assembled.

The final result dramatically changed the profile of the Cybertruck. The contrasting black structure worked particularly well against the white exterior, giving the truck a more sleek and adventure-focused appearance.

The rack was also being installed with a future camper enclosure in mind. Based on guidance from the manufacturer, we routed the system in a way that would remain compatible with the customer’s planned camper setup.

Creating a Clean Starlink Installation

Because the customer planned to use the Cybertruck for camping, Starlink connectivity was another important part of the build.

Mounting Starlink near the bed is relatively straightforward. Creating a clean power route is more difficult.

The customer wanted an exterior installation because the bed would eventually be covered by the camper system. We therefore needed a route that would keep the cable hidden, protected, and accessible without leaving it loosely hanging across the exterior.

We ran the cable along the B-pillar area, behind the weather stripping, through existing interior cavities, and toward the rear outlet. From most viewing angles, the final cable path is almost completely invisible.

We also left enough slack near the exterior connection for the customer to position the Starlink equipment as needed. The final connection would be weatherproofed and covered to protect it from the elements.

It would have been faster to leave the wire visible, but taking the longer route produced a much cleaner result.

Why Ceramic Coating Came Last

Ceramic coating was intentionally saved until the heavy installation work was nearly complete.

Throughout the build, we were touching the exterior with tools, gloves, wiring, metal brackets, and equipment. Coating the truck too early would have meant repeatedly working over a freshly finished surface.

By waiting until the rack, lighting, PPF, and major accessories were installed, we could thoroughly clean the exterior and apply the coating as one of the final steps.

This sequence reduces the risk of contaminating or damaging the finish during assembly.

Cybertruck Build No. 2: A Gloss Regal Emerald Transformation

While the adventure build consumed much of the night, the second Cybertruck was undergoing a completely different transformation.

This truck was one of the $60k Cybertruck configurations offered for a limited period. While it did not have the Cyberbeast’s three-motor powertrain or upgraded suspension, it definitely still provided an excellent platform for customization.

We wrapped it in Boring PPF Gloss Regal Green.

The color is a deep forest green with a subtle teal character under certain lighting. Unlike a satin finish, the gloss surface creates stronger reflections and allows the green to change noticeably depending on the environment.

The truck also received:

  • Matching green accents on portions of the wheels
  • Window tint

The green finish completely changed the Cybertruck’s personality. Instead of emphasizing the original stainless-steel industrial look, the wrap gave the truck a richer, more premium appearance while retaining its unmistakable shape.

Two Very Different Cybertrucks

These two builds showed just how many directions a Cybertruck can go.

The Gloss Regal Green truck was focused on visual transformation. Its rich green finish softened some of the Cybertruck’s industrial character and created a completely different presence on the road.

The Cyberbeast was built around capability and adventure. Its bed rack, lighting, refrigerator, Starlink preparation, protective film, and future camper compatibility turned it into a much more complete travel platform.

Neither truck looked like a standard Cybertruck by the time it left the shop.

What We Learned From the 24-Hour Challenge

Trying to complete two major Cybertruck builds in the same 24-hour window was exhausting, but it reinforced several lessons.

Preparation matters just as much as installation. A single incorrect part can disrupt an entire schedule.

Disassembly is often worth the additional time. Removing trim made it possible to finish the PPF edges properly, conceal wiring, and create installations that looked much more integrated.

Testing cannot be rushed. The refrigerator, RGB light, rack locks, tonneau cover, windows, wiring, and exterior edges all needed to be checked before delivery.

Most importantly, durability should take priority over speed. Even under a severe deadline, we were not willing to force film around difficult areas, leave wiring exposed, or return the truck without testing the major components.
